The sleep center at The Children's Medical Center of Dayton is one of a few centers in the country accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. The sleep laboratory is supervised by a physician board certified in sleep medicine, employs a fully credentialed polysomnographic technologist, and has access to a wide range of pediatric subspecialists. Inpatient and outpatient sleep studies are scheduled Sunday through Friday. Efforts are made to accommodate working parents.

Services available

Infant obstructive sleep study

Polysomnography sleep study - This study is done with a sleep technician in attendance and includes EEG leads in addition to heart rate, oxygen saturation, airflow, thoracic/abdominal impedance, ETC02 monitoring and MLST testing. This study is an evaluation of:

• Obstructive sleep apnea - snoring and/or witnessed apnea, tracheostomy decannulation. Infant obstructive sleep study (outpatient somnogram) is also available. 
• Ventilator trials - current settings, setting titration and weaning
• CPAP/BiPAP trials - initiation of, setting titration, compliance
• Multiple sleep latency testing (MSLT) - for complaints of excessive daytime somnolence and narcolepsy
• Parasomnia - sleep walking and talking, bruxism and enuresis
• Sleep studies with pH monitoring - nocturnal reflux and/or any apneas associated with it
• Other - insomnia and idiopathic hypersomnulence versus excessive daytime sleepiness

Sleep disorders clinic - Tuesday all day and Friday morning

CPAP clinic - Friday afternoons
